Let me ask you something.

ask you

I tell you guys a lot of things. Like a lot, a lot of things. So now I have some questions to ask you because I just don’t get some things but you are smart and will be able to help me. Look at you, you smart, beautiful person, you.

5 questions I have going into the weekend:

|ONE| Why was that whole #AlexfromTarget meme even a thing? I don’t get it. He’s like 12. Am I getting old? I mean, I know I just had a birthday but I like to think I still “get” things. Sarah said it perfectly over in this post.

|TWO| Why is it so cold already here in Chicago? I mean I think I knew that it was going to be cold but I didn’t really KNOW. But I have snow boots now so that means I’m ready, right?

chicago weather

|THREE| Why did I NOT know that riding boots were such a wonderful thing before now? I’m totally in love with the pair I bought last week. I might have already worn them 3 times this week.

|FOUR| What is grad school like when you don’t like your cohort? Or what is it like outside of a TFA framework?I mean of course the grad school doesn’t care much about TFA but seeing as everyone in my cohort is it comes up a lot. And I love them. My colleagues are actually the best.

|FIVE| Why do no other teachers but myself and the 1st grade teacher decorate their doors? I change mine every month based on what’s happening and it’s honestly just a lot of fun. We’re required to change bulletin boards but doors are much more fun #crafting!

And a bonus one just because I’m curious:

How did you do on your goals this week? I’m doing pretty well so far. Tell me about you. No, really. I want to know. I wouldn’t ask if I didn’t.

    1) Seriously! Why was #Alexfromtarget a thing and why is no one discussing how creepy the girl is who started it?!
    2) I think you are going to need more than snow boots! I’m reading Judy Greer’s memoir right now and mentions walking through the cold of Chicago with tears freezing to her face. Apparently it’s miserable. I don’t envy you. Layer it up!
    3) Riding boots are completely amazing. This reminds me that I need a pair in brown.
    4) I’m so completely over grad school. I swear half of the people I have classes with did not graduate High School. (It’s a distance ed program so discussion boards galore.)
    5) If they are anything like me then that’s just one more thing on a neverending to-do list. Whenever I think of that list I just choose to sleep.

      1) THANK YOU! I’m glad I”m not the only one who feels that way!
      2) Oh my word. I was just thinking I needed a new coat, hat, scarves…
      3) GIRL YES. Me too!
      4) Oh my goodness. I’m so sorry it’s like that. I mean I’m definitely over the whole school aspect period but at least my people are good.
      5) That’s so real. Sleep is SO needed! For me it’s one of the things on that list that I actually enjoy so it’s like a break at the same time!

    1. I don’t know what that was about all about! I read it on my phone and I still don’t get it! hahaha
    2. I feel like I didn’t even get a fall season in TX! It was 74 one day and the next 32 🙁
    3. I am addicted to riding boots! The only thing is I have to stop myself from wearing them with sweatpants :p
    4. I’m sorry, I know nothing about grad schools! But best of luck to you 🙂
    5. Again, not my area but I feel like the older we get as students, the less frilly stuff we need. Ya know?
Bonus: My goals this week are not to kill myself before my wedding LOL Seriously. Who knew this shit got so out of hand?!

Yeah, it’s getting abnormally cold here in Charleston too! And I wish all teachers decorated their doors. It would make school a bit more fun.

I’m north of Atlanta and we are as cold as Chicago right now. (Sunday temps are supposed to be in the 70’s) I drive a school bus in my ‘I need insurance and extra income’ life and actually like it. One driver re-decorates her bus with every holiday, I do mine about 3 times a year. I just re-did on Monday into a winter woodland theme. All the kids assigned seat names are on bears and birds and trees. And my goals are so-so. I’ve been drinking my water and doing my squats, not so much the walking and getting bed on-time. Blog wise- I need to be writing my blogiversary post as I’m doing this, so that tells you something lol.

Oh my gosh I can’t believe it’s so cold there too! I haven’t heard of bus drivers decorating busses but I think that’s the coolest thing ever! How cute! Good job on your water and squats (I should be doing more of those), sleep is so hard to get these days! And goodness, I totally skipped over a blogiversary post this year, oops. Congrats on yours! It’s such an accomplishment to be sticking to this!

    (A) I LOVE that you decorate your door! It gives people something cheerful to walk into every time they come in. And it shows you care, and enjoy putting effort in! Don’t be ashamed!
    (B) Riding boots are the best, and an addiction. I bought 1 pair a few years ago, and now I find myself wanting more and more pairs, even though they all do roughly the same thing. They go with everything, they’re comfortable, and they’re stylish, making it look like you put extra effort into your outfit!

Thank you! I love doing it, it’s so much fun and I think it gives an extra boost to the happiness in my school. With this awful weather we can all use a little extra joy! AND YES! I’m so glad you love riding boots too! I want ALL OF THEM! I seriously have been wearing mine like all the time no matter what outfit I’m wearing!
